“Media Ethics and Reputational Harm: The Richard Jewell Story”

Richard Jewell

L. Lin Wood
Lawyer for Richard Jewell

Wednesday, January 25, 2006
7 p.m.
The Nittany Lion Inn, Ballroom C
Admission is free.

The 2006 Luchinsky Memorial Lecture speakers are Richard Jewell, the security guard and American hero who saved dozens of lives in 1996 in Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park by clearing and evacuating the area before a bomb exploded, and attorney L. Lin Wood, who successfully sued numerous news media outlets for falsely suggesting that Jewell committed the bombing. Wood is the most feared plaintiffs’ attorney in libel law today. Jewell now works as a police officer in a small town in Georgia.

The 11th Annual Luchinsky Memorial Lecture is presented by the Schreyer Honors College, in conjunction and partnership with the College of Communications and the Don Davis Program in Communication Ethics.
